Peterson StroboSoft Suite
Peterson previously only offered its StroboSoft Suite as a digital download, but the software-based strobe tuner for Mac and PC now ships in a retail box that includes a hard-copy manual and an audio adapter for a sound-card jack. Peterson also puts its Intonation DVD in each box, an added value that covers fundamental strobe-tuning concepts and also provides tips and tricks for tuning. If you’ve already downloaded the StroboSoft Suite but want the DVD, rest easy-it’s available separately from petersontuners.com.
Edirol R-09 WAV/MP3 Recorder
Losing lots of musical ideas to a bad memory? Don’t let it happen again. You can record the brilliant melodies that come to you in line at the grocery store with Edirol’s new, pocket-sized R-09, then flesh ’em out when you get back to the studio. The R-09 records WAV files in 24-bit resolution and features an onboard stereo mike as well as input for an external mike and output to audio or USB. It’s also a fine item for capturing a concert or field recording, and it records and plays back in MP3, too. edirol.com
