Ralph Towner’s Solo Guitar Works Vol. 2

It’s one thing to learn how to play straightahead jazz, and another to master pancultural music informed by jazz improvisation. With this new volume for solo guitar by Towner-Oregon’s eccentric guitarist and an ECM recording artist-you can learn to play nine of his best compositions, which run the gamut from classical and jazz to traditional folk music from all over the globe. Published by Guitar Solo Publications, the book, which retails for $19.95, contains transcriptions, fingerings and performance notes, plus an appendix with improvisational lead sheets for “Toledo” and “Mingusiana.”

Leslie Model 611 Interface Kit

Do you have a vintage B2 or B3 Hammond organ but a new-model Leslie speaker? If so, Hammond’s 611 Kit, which permits vintage Hammonds to adapt to recent high-powered and technologically advanced speakers, is essential. Installation is easy, with a simple plug-in connection between the Leslie’s 6-pin cable and its 11-pin speaker. The kit also allows the organ to remotely turn on the Leslie’s power, as well as control its speed.
