This solo piano outing consists of 13 selections, eight of them original compositions. There’s also an improvisation based on Bela Bartok’s Roumanian folk dances. Crothers’s interpretations are ruminative and highly subjective. The tunes bleed into one another and while she plays several standards, “Lover Man,” Good Morning Heartache” and “How High the Moon,” its impossible to distinguish them from her own compositions or to pick out their melody. Her approach is ponderous and predictable and not particularly jazzy.
