Since his arrival in New York in 2005, Israeli guitarist Yotam Silberstein has made an impact on the scene with his precision bebop lines and fleet-fingered improvisations. Here he showcases his love of Brazilian music with fresh interpretations of pieces by Carlos Lyra, Dorival Caymmi, Antonio Carlos Jobim and others. He is joined by Brazilian drummer Vanderlei Pereira, pianist David Feldman, JLP label head John Lee on fretless acoustic bass guitar and some prestigious guests. Trumpeter Roy Hargrove appears on the darkly beautiful ballad “Falando De Amour” and the soothing “Antigua.” Clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera sits in on “Saudade Da Bahia” and the buoyant bossa nova “O Barquinho,” the latter also featuring a tasty flugelhorn solo from Claudio Roditi. And Brazilian guitar great Toninho Horta provides some special moments in duet with Yotam on “Samba Da Minha Terra.”
