New York guitarist strikes a laid back, swinging accord with tenor saxophonist Abraham Burton, bassist Kiyoshi Kitagawa and drumming great Victor Lewis on this outstanding quartet offering. Sellenraad’s warm-toned comping sets up a nice cushion for Burton’s pungent horn and further tweaks the proceedings with his adventurous harmonic streak. Together they demonstrate an impeccable loose-tight chemistry on the moody title track, the burning chops showcase “Double Down,” the slow-grooving “Stubbs” and the funky boogaloo “Blewis.”
