Recorded in a single continuous take with no breaks between tracks, this demanding suite travels organically to some heady and evocative places with the help of a triumverate of potent alto saxophonists in Miguel Zenon, Christof Knoche and David Binney, who contribute scorching, harmonically provocative solos along the way. Drummer Dan Weiss underscores the proceedings with driving polyrhythms and intricate subdivisions while Jen Shyu adds exotic flair to guitarist Okazaki’s wafting melodies with ethereal wordless vocals. A stunning achievement.
