Weiss’ Milestones, with bassist Paul Gill and drummer Joe Farnsworth, is chops-oriented. The group plays a blistering “Just One of Those Things” to set the record straight. But their ballad work on “Like Someone in Love” is equally convincing. Weiss has more than a hint of McCoy Tyner in his style. The bassist and the drummer are tasteful ensemble players and solid soloists.
