In a stripped-down trio setting, the adventurous saxophonist-clarinetist explores freely within his smart, melodic themes alongside the remarkably empathetic rhythm tandem of bassist David Ambrosio and drummer Russ Meissner. Steeped in the daredevil tradition of Renzi’s mentor George Garzone (and The Fringe), this collective improv outing is defined by keen listening-reacting and a real sense of creating in the moment, exemplified by such organic, free flowing numbers as “Happy Hour,” “Chopping Mall,” “School’s Out” and the expansive title track.
