The fourth annual Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival returns to Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in New York from Sept. 9 to Oct. 12. The festival, presented by Diet Coke and Jazz at Lincoln Center, will feature nightly headlining performances from Nnenna Freelon (pictured), Rickie Lee Jones, Gloria Lynne and more, as well special after-hours shows on certain nights.
Festivities open on Tuesday, Sept. 9 with performances by the Jessica Williams Trio with Ray Drummond and Victor Lewis performing the music of John Coltrane. Nicole Pasternak with Ralph Lalama will handle after-hours duties.
The festival closes with a Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Sunday, Oct. 12 residency from the Renee Rosnes Quartet. The Sara Caswell Quartet performs after hours those nights.
“Jazz is an extremely important part of our culture and the impact that women have had on this phenomenal artistic expression cannot go unnoticed,” Steven Boyd, the Coca-Cola Company’s regional vice president, said in a press release.
The schedule for the shows is as follows: Weeknights feature headliners at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., with Tuesday through Thursday after-hours at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights feature an additional 11:30 p.m. headlining set, with after hours starting at 12:45 a.m. Upstarts, up-and-coming artists, perform Mondays at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.
Cover for weekday headliners is $30 Tuesday through Thursday, $35 Friday and Saturday. After hours costs $10 and Monday’s headlining cover is $20. Student discounts reduce prices to $15 for headliners, $10 for Monday shows and $5 for after hours. Food and beverage minimum is $10 at tables, $5 at the bar.
Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola is located at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s home: Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th St, 5th floor.
