Newark, N.J., jazz station WBGO is launching a new series of live music at New York’s 54 Below nightclub, starting tomorrow night (April 2) with the Peter Bernstein Quintet featuring Jimmy Cobb, Harold Mabern, Frank Wess and John Webber. The shows will take place each Tuesday and are curated by veteran jazz programmer Todd Barkan. The schedule as of now is as follows:

54 Below will also host a special weeklong engagement featuring Doc Severinsen and Jonathan Tunick. Showtimes are May 28-June 1 at 7PM and 9PM (Tues.-Thurs. at 7PM & 9PM, Fri. & Sat. at 7PM & 11PM). There is a $65 – $115 cover charge, and a $25 food and beverage minimum.

Also, singer Gregory Porter will perform April 14 and his show will be broadcast live, from 12:30-1:30 pm on WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM or wbgo.org.
