Verve Launches Web site to Promote We All Love Ella Tribute CD

Verve Records has launched a new Web site in support of the label’s upcoming Ella Fitzgerald tribute album, We All Love Ella: Celebrating the First Lady of Song, out June 5. The site, celebrateella.com, includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of artists such as Michael BublĂ©, Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, k.d. lang, Dianne Reeves, Chaka Khan and Ledisi recording their interpretations of Fitzgerald classics with producer Phil Ramone. Many of the artists also offer commentary about Ella and their thoughts on recording her music.

A link to Amazon.com from the site will allow visitors to purchase the tribute album as well as other Fitzgerald-related items. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the tribute album recording will be donated to the Ella Fitzgerald Foundation, which the late singer created to provide educational opportunities for children, foster love of music, assist those in need, and support medical care and research.

Fitzgerald, who would have turned 90 on April 25, will also be the subject of a PBS Great Performances program airing on June 6. Quincy Jones, Ruben Studdard, James Moody, Wynonna Judd and others will guest on the show.
