Sonny Rollins Documentary to Have East Coast Premiere Oct. 2

Beyond the Notes, filmmaker Dick Fontaine’s documentary of saxophone master Sonny Rollins, will be featured at the Woodstock Film Festival in that New York town this Wednesday, Oct. 2. The film will screen at the Woodstock Playhouse at 8 p.m. Both Rollins and Fontaine will be present and will will partake in a Q&A following the screening.

The film, which centers around Rollins’ 80th birthday concert at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, includes guest appearances by Jim Hall, Ornette Coleman and Roy Haynes, plus others.
