Opera Star Jessye Norman to Host Jazz Radio Program Tuesday

Singer will also host special Broadway preview performance of “Lady Day”

Opera singer Jessye Norman, a devoted jazz fan, will host an hour-long program on Newark, N.J., jazz station WBGO this Tuesday, Sept. 10. Norman will appear on “Mid-Day Jazz” with announcer Rhonda Hamilton from noon-1:00 pm. The station is located at 88.3 FM in the New York/New Jersey listening area and streams at WBGO.org.

Two weeks after her “Host An Hour” set, Norman will serve as honorary chair and hostess of a special performance of the upcoming Broadway musical Lady Day, starring Dee Dee Bridgewater as Billie Holiday. That will take place Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7:00 p.m. at the Little Shubert Theatre in New York City. The special event benefits WBGO and The Actors Fund.
