The Newport Festivals Foundation Inc. has announced that it will add a third day of music featuring new and emerging artists at the 60th anniversary of the Newport Jazz Festival. The additional concert, according to a press release, is funded in part by a $40,000 grant from the Rhode Island Foundation, and is set for August 1, from 11:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. at Fort Adams State Park.

Tickets for the inaugural Friday event go on sale today at Newport Jazz Fest and at the Newport Visitors Center (NVC), 23 America’s Cup Avenue in Newport.

Artists confirmed for the Friday lineup include Miguel Zenón and Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, as well as John Zorn.

The complete lineup for the Newport Jazz Festival will be announced in January.
