Australian-born trumpeter and composer Nadje Noordhuis will perform next Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Culture Project Theater in New York City as part of her debut album CD release party.

Noordhuis, known for her work with Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, the DIVA Jazz Orchestra and James Shipp, will play with Sara Caswell on violin, Fabian Almazan on piano, Joe Martin on bass, Obed Calvaire on drums, James Shipp on percussion and Rupert Boyd on classical guitar. Vocalist Jo Lawry, who made her solo debut in 2010 and recently toured with Sting, will also perform.

The date of the CD release and performance, coincidentally, falls on the same date as the holiday, Australia Day, which Noordhuis embraced. “The time has finally arrived,” she said in an email invitation. “We are releasing my debut album on Australia Day (January 26) with a ripper of a night. If you have been thinking about checking out a performance, I would strongly advise attending this one.”

Tickets for the New York release of her debut album are on sale now for $20 and an advance purchase also includes a free download of the self-titled album.
