The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation will host a concert by the Darius Jones Quartet with Emilie Lesbros, at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage on Oct. 9 at 6:00 p.m. The foundation will also announce its 2014-2015 FAJE grantees during the concert. This concert is free and open to the public.
On October 10, MAAF will host the BNY Mellon Jazz 2014 Living Legacy Award: Celebrating 20 Years of Legacy Honorees, starting at 6:00 p.m. In honor of the 20th anniversary of the award, previous Legacy winners will join us as the foundation’s guests for the evening. Muhal Richard Abrams, the 2012 Living Legacy awardee, and his group will performance in the Terrace Theater.
The MAAF has confirmed attendance by Kenny Barron, Roy Haynes, Jimmy Heath, Rufus Reid, Larry Ridley, Randy Weston and Reggie Workman for the events on both the 9th and 10th. Joanne Brackeen will also join us on the 9th before receiving the award on the 10th.
