MCG Jazz Announces 2014-15 Season

Blues show, vocalist debuts and veteran stars among 24 shows

Pittsburgh’s MCG Jazz has announced its 28th annual jazz concert season. The series begins on Sept. 27 and runs through May 8, 2015, showcasing 24 headlining artists and over 140 individual musicians. Among the shows is MCG’s first foray into traditional blues with the Blues Hall of Fame Tour featuring Charlie Musselwhite, John Hammond and James Cotton.

Debuts include vocalists Cécile McLorin Salvant and Cyrille Aimee. Also on the schedule are the Bob Mintzer R & Big Band, and Jon Faddis, the New York Jazz Orchestra, and Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Other highlights include Branford Marsalis, Gerald Albright and Poncho Sanchez.

Saturday shows will be at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 pm. Thursday and Friday evening performances will remain at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. as in previous years.
