The Jazz Journalists Association has announced the recipients of its 2016 JJA Jazz Awards for Musical Achievement. Among the top honorees are Henry Threadgill (Lifetime Achievement in Jazz), Maria Schneider (Musician of the Year) and Kamasi Washington (Up and Coming Artist of the Year). The JJA will announce the winners of its Jazz Awards for journalism and broadcasting at a reception in New York City on June 15.
