JazzReach Raises Funds at the Blue Note

On May 21, the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York hosted “Reaching Forth,” a benefit for JazzReach Performing Arts and Education Association, Inc. Saxophonist Joe Lovano, guitarist Bill Frisell, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade provided the night’s entertainment and were joined throughout the evening by special guests organist Sam Yahel and saxophonist Myron Walden (pictured left).

The event raised approximately $15,000 in support of JazzReach’s commitment to enriching the lives of young people through engaging, high quality educational outreach programs. JazzReach, a not-for-profit organization, hopes this will be the first in an ongoing series of annual events.

JazzReach is currently programming its 2001-’02 season, dedicated to presenting a multimedia program for teens entitled “Stolen Moments: The First One Hundred Years of Jazz” on a tour throughout the country.
