The annual Italian Jazz Days will take place beginning today, Oct. 12, through Oct. 22, at locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. D.C. The event is presented by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York and the Italian nonprofit organization, C-Jam Music.
The New York City venues are Measure Lounge at Langham Place, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, the Jazz Standard and Smalls. Two additional venues will also host concerts: the Deer Head Inn (Delaware Water Gap, PA) and Blues Alley (Washington, DC.)
The 2013 festival is dedicated to the Piemonte region of Italy, and features Giovanni Scotta, winner of the Orsara Jazz Summer Camp 2013. Also particpating is jazz veteran Emanuele Cisi. Jazz pianist and Italian Jazz Days Artistic Director Antonio Ciacca will perform at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola and Blues Alley (D.C.) Ciacca plays music from the Italian American Songbook with Joe Magnarelli, Jerry Weldon, Paul Gill, Peter Van Nostrand, Joe Mc Donogh, Dayna Stephens and Aaron Kimmel.
