The Hammond Organ company needs your help in determining the inaugural group of inductees for its Hall of Fame. To vote, and enter a contest to win Hammond apparel and a Leslie Pedal, visit the official Hammond Facebook page.

The Hall of Fame celebrates the company’s 80th year. As a press release from Hammond reads, “The criteria used in selecting the [nominees] follows Hammond’s ‘The Sound, The Soul, the One’ motto, citing the artist’s contributions to music in general, how the Hammond Organ played a part in their success, and how their approach to using the Hammond has influenced the generations that followed.” The 100-plus artists to choose from also reflect the great stylistic range and historical reach of Hammond’s instruments.

After the online voting deadline of Nov. 30, the top 25 artists will be turned over to, as the release reads, “a blue-ribbon panel of music industry journalists, artists and executives who will confirm and elect the ‘freshman class.'”

A ceremony and concert honoring the inductees will be held at the Winter NAMM tradeshow in Anaheim, Calif., in January. An additional honor, the Laurens Hammond Award, will be given to a figure who has made significant non-musical contributions to Hammond history.
