Two different events celebrating the birthday of the late Gil Evans will take place in New York I May. On May 13, the Gil Evans Orchestra will perform at the May 13th at the Highline Ballroom. The orchestra is led by Miles Evans, Gil’s son, and includes Kenwood Dennard (drums), Mark Egan (bass), Paul Metzke and Oz Noy (guitars),
Pete Levin and Delmar Brown (keyboards), Miles Evans, Lew Soloff and Shunzo Ohno (trumpets), Tom “Bones” Malone, David Bargeron, Earl Mcintire and Conrad Herwig (trombones), Alex Foster, Chris Hunter, David Mann and Tim Hegarty (saxophones), John Clark (French horn), Bob Stewart (tuba) with special guests Mino Cinelu, Matthew Garrison and others.

Taking place at the Jazz Standard May 14-19 is the Gil Evans Project led by Ryan Truesdell. The venue is located at 116 E 27th St.(between Park and Lexington) in Manhattan. Tickets can be purchased here.
