Cuban Piano Legend Chucho Valdés to Launch U.S. Tour

Carnegie Hall date to feature flamenco singer Buika

Cuban pianist and composer Chucho Valdés will begin a U.S. tour in Princeton, N.J. January 20. The 70-year-old Latin jazz legend, who founded the group Irakere in 1972, will be joined by Spanish jazz/flamenco/neo-soul singer Buika the following night at Carnegie Hall. This show will mark the first time the pair performs together in North America. Valdés and Buika recorded El Último Trago together in 2009 as a tribute to Mexican singer Chavela Vargas.

Valdés will be touring with the Afro-Cuban Messengers and will feature tracks from his Grammy-winning album, Chucho’s Steps, his first solo project since 2003’s New Conception.
