Auand Records’ 10 Anniversary to be Celebrated over 5 Nights in NYC

A five-day event called “Auand Meets NY” will bring together 20 jazz musicians in 10 projects at five New York venues from Nov. 1-5, to celebrate Auand Records’ tenth anniversary. Performances will include A10A10 (Auand 10th Anniversary 10tet), an all-star big band made up of the best Auand musicians plus trombone guru Ray Anderson as a special guest. Italian musicians, including Francesco Bearzatti and Francesco Diodati, as well as international players such as Ohad Talmor, Dan Weiss and Tim Berne, will also be featured. Venues participating include Smalls, Zebulon, Barbès, Galapagos and Seeds)

On opening night, a three-set gig at Smalls will feature guitarist Diodati, Bearzatti’s rock band Sax Pistols and Swiss-Israeli saxophonist Ohad Talmor’s NewsReel.

Drummer Bobby Previte’s new project Plutino will be presented together with a Gabrio Baldacci and Tim Berne duet (November 2 at Zebulon), while Giancarlo Tossani’s Synapser and the trio Partipilo/Okazaki/Weiss will be at Barbes on November 3. Walter Beltrami will lead his quartet with Jim Black on drums on the final night, November 5, at Seeds.
