Atlanta Jazz Festival Hosts 31 Days of Jazz Throughout May

The 36th annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, themed “Generation Next,” kicks off May 1 and continues throughout the month. The “31 Days of Jazz” feature performances by José James, Gretchen Parlato, Meshell Ndegeocello, Dominick Farinacci, Aaron Diehl, Tia Fuller, Jacob Deaton, Julie Dexter and Ambrose Akinmusire.

The shows culminate with three days of concerts during Memorial Day weekend at various clubs, museums and parks across Atlanta.

Major events include the neighborhood jazz series on Saturday and Sunday afternoons; the May 24 Concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre starring BWB and Chrisette Michele; and the Late Night Jazz Concert May 26 at the Loews Atlanta Hotel, featuring Dionne Farris with the Russell Gunn Quartet. The festival will also host the 10th annual Youth Jazz Band Competition May 23 at Georgia State University and daily jazz education workshops at Magnolia Hall.
