ROSEANNA VITRO is a Grammy Nominated Vocalist, Educator, Record Producer and Journalist. She possesses a warm, honey-dipped tone, with a deep swing and blues feel, always adventurous and knows how to tell a story. Her albums span; Ella, Sarah & Carmen swing feels, diversions through Brazil, and with a blink of an eye, a vocal drive down to a Texas roadhouse blues.

TELL ME THE TRUTH is her fourteen release in a long history of critically acclaimed jazz albums; Passion Dance, Reaching for the Moon, Tropical Postcards plus tributes to Bill Evans, Ray Charles, Clare Fischer and Randy Newman with pianists, Kenny Werner, Mark Soskin and Fred Hersch to name a few. Vitro created a Vocal Jazz Program at New Jersey City University in the late 90’s and enjoyed teaching at NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens over a decade. She represented Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center & U.S. State Department as a touring Jazz Ambassador in 2004 & 2009. Vitro’s passion for teaching inspired the creation of JVOICE, a singers educational site on Facebook and she created an interview series, Voices in Jazz at www.JazzTimes.com When time permits Roseanna produces recordings for singers with her husband, well know recording engineer, Paul Wickliffe.

TELL ME THE TRUTH, the title track, is a tip of the hat to the late, great Jon Hendricks. His composition speaks of political hypocrisy and the remedy of love. The CD features southern songs with deep grooves by Rudy Royston on drums, Mitch Stein is down right dirty on guitar, Tim Ries is total hipness on tenor sax, Dean Johnson’s strong bass lines are the heart, Nathan Eklund’s melodic trumpet and flugel horn soar and all are guided by Mark Soskin’s super piano harmonies and creative arrangements. Special guests: Al Chestnut, Philly soul singer on Respect Yourself and vocalists Kate McGarry and Cindy Scott sing like angels on the gospel closer, “I’ll Fly Away.” The sweet icing is Sara Caswell on violin. Dial in this cd and head down the road, play it while cooking in your kitchen or make your subway ride to work a lot more fun.
