Guitarist Pat Metheny will release a new album, SIDE-EYE NYC (V1.IV), on September 9, with tours of the U.S. and Europe to follow from fall 2021 to summer 2022.

Side-Eye is Metheny’s new trio project that features the guitarist with a rotating cast of young, envelope-pushing players. The album, however, is a live date featuring only keyboardist James Francies and drummer Marcus Gilmore, covering new original material along with Metheny staples like “Timeline” and “Bright Size Life” (as well as the Ornette Coleman standard “Turnaround”).

The band’s tour will feature drummer Joe Dyson along with Metheny and Francies. It begins September 16 at Seattle’s Jazz Alley. The full tour schedule is below. Pre-order SIDE-EYE NYC here.
