Later this month, Pat Metheny begins an eight-week tour of Europe with his group Side-Eye, which now features pianist Chris Fishman and drummer Joe Dyson. The guitarist opens the tour on April 26 in Brno, Czech Republic and ends it on June 22 in Valencia, Spain. During this lengthy tour, the group will perform material from the 2021 album Side-Eye NYC (V1.IV), which featured James Francies and Marcus Gilmore.

“I wanted to create an ongoing setting to feature a rotating cast of new and upcoming musicians who have particularly caught my interest,” Metheny said about the band’s new configuration in a press release received at JazzTimes. “From my earliest days in Kansas City onward, I was the beneficiary of so many older musicians giving me a platform to develop my thing… I have been feeling like I wanted to have a specific platform to focus on some of the many younger musicians I have enjoyed recently who I have felt some kind of a kinship with.”
