The 42nd annual Guinness Cork Jazz Festival in Cork, Ireland, has announced its lineup and is scheduled to run from Oct. 24-28, featuring such acts as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Kurt Elling, the Big Brass Band Explosion, the Linley Hamilton Quintet, Fred Hersch Trio, Mica Paris (singing songs associated with Ella Fitzgerald), and Spyro Gyra.
Other performers at the festival, which Guinness has sponsored since 1981, will include John Surman, Vigleik Storaas, and the Booka Brass Band.
The weekend portion of the festival will kick off with a jazz parade on the evening of Friday, Oct. 25.
“The festival has always boasted a lineup of music for the soul and we are thrilled to welcome some of the greatest musicians from the jazz, R&B, soul and Motown genres again this year,” Michael Lyons, on-trade sales manager at Diageo Ireland, which owns Guinness, says in a press release. “Those looking for a unique party atmosphere emanating from every part of the city have lots to look forward to with free gigs and fringe events for every palette.”
