On Sept. 12, Berklee College of Music will honor Fred Taylor, founder of Paul’s Mall and the Jazz Workshop, longtime artistic director of Boston’s Scullers Jazz Club and an integral part of Boston’s jazz scene, with a tribute concert consisting of both live performances and video recorded specially for the event. The concert is part of saxophonist and Berklee alum Grace Kelly’s efforts to establish the Fred Taylor Endowed Scholarship Fund, to be hosted at the college for students studying music business as well as performance.

Artists slated to perform live at the tribute concert include Kurt Elling, Danilo Perez, Terri Lyne Carrington, Grace Kelly (who will also serve as emcee), Catherine Russell, Kat Edmonson, John Patitucci, Jason Palmer, Bo Winiker and more, with a special appearance by Pat Metheny.

Artists to appear via pre-recorded video include Bill Charlap, Steve Tyrell, Esperanza Spalding, Christian McBride, Ahmad Jamal, Hiromi, Chris Botti and Herbie Hancock.

Both Berklee and the performing artists are donating their services for the event.
