The annual Earshot Jazz Festival will return to Seattle, Wash., on Oct. 7. Now in its 28th year, the festival will feature 60 unique concerts and events that will both highlight emerging artists and celebrate the deep cultural history of jazz.
Kicking off the festival on Oct. 7 will be the Frank Kohl/Steve Luceno Duo, followed by the Jovino Santos Neto Quinteto featuring Chuck Deardorf, Mark Ivester, Ben Thomas and Jeff Busch.
Saxophonist Steve Lehman will perform the following day with his trio, which includes bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Damion Reid. Two days later, on Oct. 10, Freddy Cole will perform a tribute to his brother, the legendary singer-pianist Nat King Cole.
On Oct. 11, pianists Kris Davis and Craig Taborn will perform as a duo, playing music from Davis’ forthcoming album, Duopoly.
In one of the festival’s premier events, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will return to Seattle on Oct. 13.
Guitarist Matt Stevens and his trio will play the festival on Nov. 4 and Nov. 7, and will perform music from Woodwork, Stevens’ first album as a leader.
The festival will close with a performance by the Seattle Symphony, which will perform a tribute to Quincy Jones.
Tickets vary in price, and will go on sale Sept. 1. For more information, visit earshot.org.
