The 42nd edition of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival will feature vocalist Kurt Elling, 14-time Grammy nominee and 2018 Jazz Pianist of the Year Fred Hersch, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, among others.
The festival takes place Oct. 18 to Oct. 22. It will feature over 1,000 artists representing more than 20 countries. Visitors can catch performances at more than 70 venues throughout the city, including pubs, hotels, restaurants, galleries, and public spaces.
There will also be headline performances from American jazz fusion band Spyro Gyra, whose 30 albums have sold more than 10 million copies over four decades; Northern Ireland’s Dr. Linley Hamilton Quintet, which has performed with Paul Brady, Van Morrison, and Foy Vance; and British soul queen Mica Paris, who will sing songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald.
Additional performers will be announced in the months leading up to the festival in Cork.
The Festival Club at the Metropole Hotel will serve as the festival’s central hub while the Everyman Theatre, Cork City Hall, Triskel Arts Centre, Cork Opera House, and Firkin Crane will also play host to jazz headliners.
