A special U.S. edition of Jazztopad, Poland’s leading jazz festival, will take place June 21-25 at venues in Washington D.C. and New York City. The festival, conducted in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute New York and support from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw, Poland, will feature performances by:

  • Wójciński/Szmańda Quartet (pianist Szymon Wójciński, trumpeter Maurycy Wójciński, bassist Ksawery Wójciński and drummer Krzysztof Szmańda)
  • Stryjo (pianist Nikola Kołodziejczyk, bassist Maciej Szczyciński and drummer Michał Bryndal)
  • Lutosławski Quartet (Bartosz Woroch, 1st violin; Marcin Markowicz, 2nd violin; Artur Rozmysłowicz, viola; Maciej Młodawski, cello) joined by violinist Mark Feldman and pianist Sylvie Courvoisier.

In addition, cellist Erik Friedlander will perform with the Wójciński/Szmańda Quartet in a concert at NYC’s Jazz Gallery.

The festival provides opportunities to discover artists from the Polish contemporary jazz scene as well as to hear music that has never been performed outside of Poland.

Additional performances are TBD. For more information visit www.PolishCulture-NYC.org.
