The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association has announced some of the headliners for the famous Playboy Jazz Festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary on June 9-10. Among the artists taking a turn on the revolving circular stage at the Hollywood Bowl are: Charles Lloyd & the Marvels (Julian Lage, Greg Leisz, Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland) with Americana singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams; Lee Ritenour & Dave Grusin; Tower of Power; the Count Basie Orchestra led by trumpeter Scotty Barnhart; Kneebody; and Daymé Arocena. The complete lineup will be announced on Feb. 21, the same day that tickets go on sale.
The emcee for the festival is comedian George Lopez, who took over for longtime host Bill Cosby six years ago.
