Detroit Jazz Festival Announces Full Lineup

All-star roster includes Shorter, Hancock, Bridgewater, Iyer, Clarke, Liebman, Scofield and more

The Detroit Jazz Festival, taking place Sept. 1-4, has announced its full artist lineup including 2017 artist-in-residence Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Hudson (Jack DeJohnette, Larry Grenadier, John Medeski, John Scofield), Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chucho Valdés, Billy Childs, Danilo Pérez, Donny McCaslin, John Patitucci and many more.

The Wayne Shorter Quartet featuring pianist Danilo Pérez, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade will open the festival on Sept. 1, with Shorter also performing in a quintet featuring pianist Geri Allen, keyboardist Leo Genovese, bassist Esperanza Spalding and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington on Sept. 3, and in his quartet plus the Detroit Jazz Festival Symphony Orchestra on Sept 4.
