The DC Jazz Festival has announced the lineup for the Nordic Jazz Festival, which will be held June 17-22, 2022 at various venues around the nation’s capital. The festival, now in its 16th year, is a collaboration between the DC Jazz Festival and the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Participating artists this year include Orrin Evans, who is the DC Jazz Festival’s artist-in-residence, as well as Joonas Haavisto Trio (Finland), Kresten Osgood/Cooper-Moore (Denmark/U.S.), Ole Mathisen Renderings Quartet (Norway), and Sunna Gunnlaugs Trio (Iceland).

Evans’ concert on June 21 will feature his trio in a performance at Arena Stage at the Mead Center, celebrating the music of e.s.t., a successful Swedish trio led by the late pianist Esbjörn Svensson, who died in 2008. The other performances will take place at the Embassies of Finland and Norway, with the Joonas Haavisto Trio and Kresten Osgood/Cooper-Moore appearing at the former on June 17 and the Ole Mathisen Renderings Quartet and Sunna Gunnlaugs Trio appearing at the latter on June 22.
