
The third annual Coltrane Day Music Festival, taking place Saturday, July 22 at Heckscher Park in Huntington, N.Y., has announced its artist roster and music workshop schedule. The event is a production of the Coltrane Home in Dix Hills in partnership with the Huntington Arts Council, and celebrates the life and legacy of Alice and John Coltrane.
Musicians slated to perform at Heckscher Park’s Chapin Stage include Charles Neville (Neville Brothers) with Circus Mind, Kenny Garrett, Matt Garrison, Brandee Younger, and Upright Man with additional jazz, funk and jam bands to be announced. A community jazz jam will also take place with the time TBD.
Music workshops for a wide range of ages and skills will be available, including jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, electronic music, voice, songwriting, percussion, music improvisation and more, with preregistration required and a five-dollar donation requested. Each workshop will be approximately 45 minutes in length and all will take place at the Coltrane home between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
