The 6th Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival

August 13-14, 2010 in Provincetown, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

The 6th Annual Provincetown Jazz Festival was held on August 13 – 14, 2010 in Provincetown, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

On August 13th, the jazz festival featured Greg Abate (sax & flute), Dane Vannatter (vocals) and Janice Friedman (piano & vocals), accompanied by Chris Rathbun (bass) and Bart Weisman (drums).

On August 14th, The jazz festival premiered the Berklee Rising Stars featured Clay Lyons (sax) and Matt Joseph (trumpet). The two Berklee College of Music students competed with other students and were selected to perform at their first jazz festival. They were accompanied by Berklee faculty musicians Suzanne Davis (piano), John Lockwood (bass) and Bob Kaufman (drums).

There was a Tribute to New Orleans featuring Paul Sanchez (vocals & guitar) from New Orleans and Steve Ahern (trumpet & flute). They were joined by the Berklee Rising Stars, Berklee Faculty Musicians and Sara Julian (trombone) for two encores. A portion of the proceeds from the festival were donated to the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic.
