From Friday, June 24 until Sunday, June 26, the city of Pittsburgh played host to the Pittsburgh Jazzlive Festival – a series of live performances including free outdoor shows on Penn Avenue, paid shows at the August Wilson Center and a Club Crawl at local venues. Among the artists performing at the festival were Chick Corea’s Trilogy (with Christian McBride and Brian Blade), Eddie Palmieri, Vijay Iyer and Wadada Leo Smith, Jean-Paul Bourelly’s Nu Grid (with Vernon Reid, Graham Haynes & DJ Logic), Jeff “Tain” Watts Quartet +1 (with special guest Mark Whitfield), Brett Williams, Davina & the Vagabonds, Kenia with Antonio Adolfo, Buika, Gabriel Alegria Afro Peruvian Sextet, the Revive Big Band and others. The festival was presented by Citizens Bank and is a project of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
