Pharoah Sanders and his quartet–pianist William Henderson, bassist Nat Reeves and drummer Joe Farnsworth–made their debut at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Sept. 27, 2012. Sanders blew his saxophone with the gusto of a man half his nearly 72 years. He also danced, sang, chanted–during the finale of “The Creator Has a Master Plan”–and proved why he is still revered.
JazzTimes Associate Editor Jeff Tamarkin had front table seats and put his camera to work.
