Tenor saxophonist Jimmy Greene brought a mixture of jazz, blues and gospel to the Attucks Theatre in Norfolk, Va., last week along with John Toomey (piano), Randall Pharr (bass) and Jae Sinnett (drums). Greene opened the season’s jazz series with a sold-out house, playing a variety of old and new material, much of which came from his latest album Beautiful Life, written in honor of his daughter Ana, who was tragically killed in the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012.
Photographer Mark Robbins captured highlights of the gig.
