On Saturday night at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco, Jason Moran reinvented the idea of what a jazz performance can be yet again. As his Bandwagon (with guitarist Jeff Parker) played, Bay Area skateboarders rode a mid-sized half-pipe positioned in front of the stage.

Andrew Gilbert is working on a piece for our upcoming issue on the performance and concept, including remarks from Moran on the surprisingly long-running relationship between skating and jazz. In the meantime, here are some photos from the event. Video footage is available here.
