“This was another Italian Vogue shoot—Italians really love jazz. They wanted to get a lot of musicians together, so I called up a bunch and told them we’d meet in Harlem and they could wear whatever they wanted. I took this outside the designated meeting point, which was the Lenox Lounge. I knew Milt Hinton pretty well; he played at my 50th birthday party.”
