A parade of stars packed the Blue Note last night for “A Concert to Benefit the James Moody Scholarship for Newark Youth.” The Master of Ceremonies was Bill Cosby. The featured performers included Kenny Barron, Cyrus Chestnut,Todd Coolman, Paquito D’Rivera, Roberta Gambarini, Greg Gisbert, Antonio Hart, Jimmy Heath, Greg Hutchinson, Drums, John Lee, Najee, Lewis Nash, Justin Robinson, David Sanborn, Yotam Silberstein, Lew Tabackin, and Frank Wess.
I saw Roy Hargrove in the house, but he never made it to the stage for the first set.
A great event for a good cause.
Long live Moody!
