Despite troubling economic times, and multiple climatic disasters around the country, the Monterey Jazz Festival continues to be a beacon of light for jazz fans. The 54th version showcased a rising star in Japanese pianist Hiromi, ” An Afternoon in Treme,” a musical gumbo from the Crescent City, world music talents India.Arie and Richard Bona, and a stirring set from octogenarian icon Sonny Rollins. The weather was picture perfect for the weekend. Add this festival to your bucket list.
