Sammons Jazz: Piano Roots, From Chicago to Dallas

About
The fall season of Sammons Jazz opens with Artistic Director and Steinway Artist Arlington Jones signaling his roots in jazz piano, from Chicago to Dallas. Jones opens the concert by performing the music of Ramsey Lewis, the three-time Grammy winner and contemporary jazz icon who, like Arlington, was born in The Windy City.
Jones, who grew up in Dallas, also pays homage to Scott Joplin, the Texarkana-born pianist and composer who would become known as The King of Ragtime. Playing with Jones in both sets are two multi-talented artists, bassist Anthony “AJ” Brown and drummer Marcus Jones.
Tickets are $50 per person and include beverages, a light buffet-style dinner, and valet parking. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. There are two performance sets of about 40 minutes each with an intermission between. Dress is casual.
