MLK Day Family Concert & Celebration

Healdsburg Jazz is proud to present a family concert on the birthdate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will present a special concert featuring Kim Nalley (vocals), Tiffany Austin (vocals), Tammy Lynne Hall (piano), Genius Wesley (drums), and Marcus Shelby (bass). We will also feature a newly commissioned poem by Enid Pickett (poet) dedicated to the Children’s March of 1963. We are excited to do this in collaboration with the Stanford MLK Paper’s Institute led by Dr. Clayborn Carson, esteemed editor of the “Autobiography of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”

This program also provides local schools in Healdsburg with a free independent study and fact sheet, timeline, playlist of songs, playlist of speeches, and suggested books and poems about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the music of the Civil Rights era.
