The Hyde Park Jazz Festival returns to present nearly 30 FREE live performances in multiple sites across Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Washington Park on September 25th-26th, 2021, including the return of the Wagner and West Stages on the Midway. As the Festival emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the program focuses on Chicago artists, many of whom will perform with very special guests. This year the festival has commissioned Chicago drummer, producer, beat scientist and composer Makaya McCraven to create a new suite for sextet, including musicians Greg Ward (alto sax), Matt Gold (guitar), Junius Paul (bass), Marquis Hill (trumpet), and Brandee Younger (harp). Other festival performers include Tomeka Reid with Regina Carter, Isaiah Collier with JD Allen, Juan Pastor’s Chinchano with Miguel Zenón, and over two dozen more.
