Detroit Clarinetist and Saxophonist Wendell Harrison

Wendell Harrison was born in Detroit in 1942, where he established his roots as a musician, educator, author, and entrepreneur, creating new and innovative projects such as vocalizing and scat singing, composing new music for a clarinet ensemble, touring on the techno music scene with Carl Craig and recording with young up and coming musicians.
Co-founder of the legendary Tribe Record Label and collective in the 1970’s, Harrison went on to establish Rebirth Inc., a nonprofit jazz performance and education organization in the 1980s.
