Composer/pianist and electronic musician Wayne Horvitz will release a new album, Some Places Are Forever Afternoon, July 10 on Songlines. According to a press release, the 12 compositions were written in honor of the Northwest poet Richard Hugo (1923-82). A 28-page booklet featuring the poems and complementary photos accompanies the CD. Musicians on the album include Horvitz (piano, Hammond B-3, electronics), Ron Miles (cornet), Sara Schoenbeck (bassoon), Peggy Lee (cello), Tim Young (guitar), Keith Lowe (bass) and Eric Eagle (drums). Horvitz will tour in support of the album in the fall (dates below). He will also a premiere an orchestral work for Seattle Symphony and guitarist Bill Frisell.
